Challenge

Online conversion improvements are taken very seriously at J. Crew. So, after seeing a direct correlation between faster site performance and higher conversions during the recent explosion of its digital channels, which include the Madewell and J. Crew Factory brands, improving site speed became a major initiative for the leading retail brand. One of the biggest challenges J. Crew faced in terms of site performance were the 200+ 3rd party technologies on its sites that were making pages heavy and slowing down load times.

Solution

Following a two-week trial of YOTTAA’s acceleration solution to optimize and control all browser-based site elements, including 3rd party technologies, J. Crew deployed YOTTAA across all of its sites. As a result, YOTTAA delivered 17% faster speed and 1.8% improved conversion, and mitigated performance latency for J. Crew’s 3rd party technologies. In addition to site speed and conversion improvements, YOTTAA de-risked J. Crew’s upcoming move from its legacy platform to Single Page Applications (SPAs) by providing deep analytics and optimizations to measure and optimize SPA performance.

To ensure that slow-loading 3rd parties weren’t impacting shopper experience, we deployed YOTTAA’s eCommerce acceleration solution. As a result, our sites are much faster and conversions are way up.
